Please check your home and cars to be sure all of the Guided Reading Books have been handed in for your student.

The Last Week of School

The last week of school is full of fun for K/1!

Monday - 1st Grade Classroom Cleaning and Journal Reading
*We are going to gather together our chair pocket, supplies, "read to self" bag, name tag, and bank then share our School Journal Entries :)

Tuesday - Movie Day K/1

Wednesday - Game Day K/1

Thursday - Water/Field Day -Whole School
*Half Day - School is out at 12:00

Please send your child to school on Monday with his/her backpack.  
Monday is the last day you will need to send a backpack to school.

Poetry Unit begins 5/1 - Poetry Packets

Your student will be reading and writing Poetry in the month of May.

The students will be bringing home weekly
POETRY PACKETS
in place of Guided Reading Books for the month of May.

The POETRY PACKETS include a "Poetry Menu"- please choose an activity from the "Poetry Menu" nightly, initial the activity on the menu, and return the POETRY PACKET daily.

It is important your student brings his POETRY PACKET to and from school everyday in the month of May.

Cereal Box Book Reports Due Monday, April 27th

Each student received a book of their choice to complete the 
Cereal Box Book Report.

Cereal Box Book Report - Due April 27th

In Writers Workshop in April we will be working on Elements in a Story:
Character

In Guided Reading we will be working on the reading skill:
Summarizing

Creating a Cereal Box Book Report gives students the opportunity to practice what they are learning.

Please choose a "just right book" to read for the book report.  A "just right book" is a book at your child's reading level.

We will be creating a Cereal Box Book Report as a class so the students will be familiar with the process before you begin your Book Report at home.
