Singapore Math

Today we completed our First Math Workbook.

The following Students took the Chapter 1-10 Cumulative Test today:

The Math Workbooks will be going home with the children tomorrow.  

We will begin our next Math Workbook when we return from Thanksgiving Break.

Ask you child what it means to be PERSUASIVE.....

Today we celebrated the completion of our PERSUASIVE LETTER Writing Unit with an

OREO PARTY.  We enjoyed listening to each other read our Persuasive Letters while eating yummy cookies and ice cream!

Come look at our classes PERSUASIVE LETTERS on the bulletin board at the bottom of the stairs.

We wrote to the President of the United States, Mrs. Warnick and Mom trying to persuade them to do things like:

* Make all toys FREE

* Let us chew gum in school

* Put in a swimming pool in the playground

* Build all things out of Legos

* Hire a maid

AND SO MUCH MORE!

Water Cycle Poster - Instructions and Rubric

DUE: Monday, December 16th

Instructions: Using what you have learned about the water cycle, create a poster to display in the hallway. Use what you have learned in Science class and refer to the videos and songs you learned in Science on our classroom website at www.fantasticfirstgradersatarches.blogspot.com (click on the SCIENCE tab at the top of the site).

 Instructions:

Draw and label the water cycle including the path water takes from a body of water to a cloud and then back to a body of water.

 Your Name and Title of Poster (The Water Cycle) (5 pts)

 Pathways of Water (40 pts) – You must include all of the following

pathways. They must be labeled:

o Evaporation

o Condensation

o Precipitation

Ø Assignment Completed Independently - with very little help from Mom and Dad (20 pts)

 Pictures of Important Parts of the Cycle (25 pts)

o Sun

o Clouds

o Precipitation (rain, snow, sleet, and/or hail)
