Please send your child into Math Class with a 

HEALTHY SNACK

to SHARE.

Some ideas would include:

A box of your favorite CEREAL (my personal favorite because one box of cereal goes a long way)

NUTS

PRETZELS

POPCORN

DRIED FRUIT - like raisins

Thank you to those parents who have sent their children to school with analog watches on their wrists!

It is so fun for the students to use what they have learned all day long :)

I've asked the other teachers and administration to ask my students what time it is as often as possible.

NOUNS, VERBS, ADJECTIVES AND ADVERBS

 I have encouraged my Grammar Students to purchase MadLibs at the book fair, local bookstore, or online.

This is a fun and exciting way to practice GRAMMAR.

Our class is climbing the GRAMMAR LADDER.  So far we have climbed through Nouns, Verbs, Adjectives and this month we are on Adverbs!

We have Pronouns and Conjunctions to go!

Please encourage your student to have fun using their GRAMMAR with MADLIBS.

We will be having a MadLib Party in May if we make it to the top of our GRAMMAR LADDER!

HAVE FUN WITH GRAMMAR!

What time is it Mom?

We are learning about telling time in Math.

Please ask your child what time it is often to help reinforce these new concepts.....

4:30 = Half Past

4:15= Quarter After

Ask them to estimate the time.....

Is it almost 8:00?

Is 9:25 after 9:00?

If you are able please purchase an analog watch for them to wear to school from now until the end of the year.

Ask them questions like......

What time do you wake up in the morning?

What time does school start?

What time do you eat lunch?

What time is morning recess?

What time does school end?

What time do you go to bed?

Reading Assessments - 3/10, 3/11 and 3/17-21

Reading Assessments

Students will be assessed during their Language Arts Class period Monday and Tuesday of this week then all of next week.

(Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday is the Writers Rally.)

Guided Reading Books will NOT be coming home these days.  Please ask your student to read something of interest aloud at home.

APRIL - Language Arts Book Reports

Cereal Box Book Reports

In the month of April the students will be asked to pick a "just right book" to read from home.  This would be a book that is at their reading reading level. 

In an attempt to provide ample time for parents to help their child find this book I am sending this post out now.

Please start looking for a book now that your child can successfully complete by the end of April.

After they complete the book they will be asked to create a CEREAL BOX BOOK REPORT.

Here is the Rubric that will be used for this Project.  This will be a grade for Language Arts and Writers Workshop.
